Welcome to the registration site for 2019 Spring/Summer/Sept Skating Lessons sponsored by Schenectady Youth Hockey Association!

This registration session will allow you to complete contact information, sign up for participation and submit payment. To complete registration through our secure site, please have your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or checking account information available.  Following the completion of this registration, you will see a charge on your account from Schdy Yth Hockey&Sktg.


Learn to Skate

Skating lessons from age 4 to adult; beginner to advanced. No prior experience needed. Program consists of 7 one-hour sessions which include a 30 minute group lesson and 30 minutes of independent practice. Skaters are encouraged to wear a helmet. No double runners. Skate rentals available, $3 per class. Please see our "Frequently Asked Questions" for information regarding make-up classes, lesson times, independent practice time, etc.  Program Director, Patti Tashman.

Sessions and Dates for Beginner and Intermediate Lessons:  

  • Summer Session:  Mondays, July 8 - Aug 19, 6-7pm at SCRF.   
  • September Session:  Mondays Sept 9 - Oct 21, 6-7 pm at SCRF.  Online Registration is now OPEN!  Registration will close on Sat. Sept 7th.

NEW! Semi-Private Intro to Figure Skating lessons - Space is limited.  Semi-private lessons will be offered from 6:30-7pm during each of the sessions above, and students may use the ice from 6- 6:30pm for independent practice.  Maximum class size of 4 skaters; cost is $160 per session and cannot be pro-rated. If interested in being considered, please proceed with registration and choose "Semi-Private Intro to Figure Skating Lessons, contingent upon placement by Director" on the registration option page. Final placement in the program will be made by the director, and payment in full will be required before the first class.  Minimum pre-requisite skills:  Forward and backward crossovers, one foot forward and backward gliding, 2 foot turn forward to backward, snowplow stop

NEW! Advanced beginner hockey skating skills !  Space is limited.  Class will meet from 6:30-7pm, and students may use the ice from 6- 6:30pm for independent practice.  Maximum class size of  8 skaters; cost is $99 for seven sessions and cannot be pro-rated.  Required pre-requisite skills:  Forward crossovers, beginning backward skating, one foot forward glide (both Right and Left), snowplow, T, or hockey stop. (NOTE:  Students who have not mastered all of the required pre-requisite skills will be moved to an appropriate lesson group).  Lessons will include working on forward and backward crossovers, hockey stops, turning forward to backward, quick direction changes, inside and outside edges.  If interested, proceed with registering for the session of your choice and indicate that you are interested in this class in the question which asks about your skating ability.   

Online registration may be paid by electronic payment ONLY. 

Please note: Placement in lesson groups is done at the discretion of the Director.  Not all special requests can be accommodated. There are no make up classes available during the Spring II, Summer and September. sessions

 


Family Discount

If you are registering more than one skater from the same family in a session at full price, you will receive a $10 discount on the second child's registration fee and $20 discount on the third child's registration fee.  In order for the registration system to recognize that your family is registering multiple players, please register all of your players at this time.  On the Review Page, there is a link near the bottom to "Register Another Player" - please click on this link to ensure that all of your family's players are registered within the same order. 

Failure to do so will result in a forfeiture of your family's discounted rates.
